Saudi Gazette report
BISHA — Saudi schoolteacher Balqees Kazim, who was involved in a terrible accident that led to the death of number of people including her son last month, will undergo two more operations in her face, according to her husband.
Hussain Al-Abdul Azeem told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that his wife’s condition was slowly improving.
She was scheduled to undergo surgery last week at the private hospital in Khamis Mushayt where she had been admitted following the accident, but it was postponed until her condition improved, he said.
Kazim, 32, had earlier undergone a surgery in her skull.
Azeem told the paper that he did not tell his wife about their son Badr’s death until now fearing that her condition might deteriorate because of shock.
Kazim and her colleagues were traveling to their workplace in Al-Amwah in Bisha governorate after spending the weekend in their hometown of Al-Ahsa when they met with the accident.
Two other schoolteachers, Iman Al-Zufairy and Safiyyah Al-Ghamdi, and their driver also died in the accident.
Kazim’s five-year-old son Mohammed, who was also in the vehicle, escaped with minor injuries.
Azeem said the moment his wife regained consciousness after the first surgery following the accident, she asked about her infant son and her two colleagues who were with her in the car.
Azeem said had come back to Khamis Mushayt to be beside his wife after burying his son in Al-Ahsa.
Azeem and Balqis have been married for 14 years. He said just before the accident, they were talking to each other on WhatsApp and he ended the talk by praying that she would be transferred to a school of her choice near their home in Ahsa.
Azeem said the accident happened when a car deviated from its lane and collided with the vehicle carrying the teachers.
