Pak envoy holds talks with OIC chief

JEDDAH —
Ambassador of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia Raja Ali Ejaz called on the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousaf A. Al-Othaimeen at the OIC secretariat in Jeddah.

This was Ejaz›s first meeting with the OIC chief after being appointed as the ambassador of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia and the permanent representative of Pakistan to OIC.

Al-Othaimeen congratulated Ejaz on his new assignment and hoped that the relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia would be further strengthened during his tenure. He appreciated the meaningful role played by Pakistan in the OIC.

Ambassador Ejaz said, «Our combined efforts have strengthened OIC’s institution and have let us take united positions on issues pertaining to the Islamic world.»

The OIC secretary-general also appreciated Pakistan’s stance on the Palestine issue and said Pakistan had given its unequivocal support to the Palestinian people.

The ambassador thanked the OIC secretary-general on the continued support given to Pakistan on various matters including the Kashmir issue and terrorism. He said the people of Pakistan greatly valued the role of the OIC in promoting the Kashmir cause at international level.

Ejaz said Pakistan greatly appreciated Assistant Secretary General and Special Representative of the Secretary General on Jammu and Kashmir Ambassador Abdullah Al-Alim for his meaningful role in the context of Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

Arshad Munir, consul (press) at the Pakistan Consulate Jeddah, said Al-Othaimeen reiterated the OIC’s stance on Kashmir and said a peaceful resolution of the dispute according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people and in accordance with the UN resolutions would bring durable peace to the region.
