JEDDAH — A Saudi in his 40s has died when the roof of a shopping center in east Jeddah collapsed on him, according to the Civil Defense.

Spokesman of the Civil Defense Col. Saeed Sarhan said the man was shopping inside when the roof of the iron and steel structure caved in.

He said the Civil Defense disconnected electricity supply and asked all shoppers to move out as a precautionary measure.

The rescue teams combed the debris looking for people who might been trapped underneath.

Sarhan said the man had already died when he was pulled out from the debris. His body was shifted to the morgue.
