JEDDAH — Princess Adela Bint Abdullah, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Charity Foundation for Home Care "Nara'ak", has said the Foundation has become an important landmark for caring poor patients in their homes. She assured that the initiative opened new horizons for every needy citizen in the Kingdom, giving them access to care even in the most remote areas of the country.
The princess made the remarks during the launch of the events of the annual exhibition "Besat Alreyh" in its 20th edition.
Princess Adela said the charity supports more than 13,193 patients throughout the Kingdom. She said care is extended to patients in their places of residence in accordance with their health status and living conditions.
She explained that the exhibition is a good interface to be held in the holy month of Ramadan to serve an important segment of people who are provided treatment, annual aid, clothing and medical supplies as determined by doctors.
The princess said the Foundation continues its efforts to reach the largest segment of patients in the Kingdom, especially in remote areas, and aims to provide care for all of them.
Dr. Jawaher Al-Abdal, board member and president of the Media Center of Besat Alreyh Exhibition, welcomed Princess Adela and other guests to the exhibition. She expressed her pleasure in hosting "Nara'ak" in the exhibition and thanked the members of the board of trustees and representatives of the Foundation for their tireless efforts to develop good deeds and strive to serve patients and their families.
Al-Abdal explained that the Foundation's activities have become an open space for constructive dialogue, debate and exchange of views between supporters, the Board of Trustees and the media to draw useful ideas for the benefit of all.
She added that if the role of the Foundation's members, supporters and benefactors is of fundamental importance, the role of the media is also a major factor in conveying a whole and honest picture through live coverage to the public outside the exhibition halls and everyone interested in humanitarian work.
She pointed out that the launch the Foundation, on Safar 20, 1418H, came as a realization of the desire of King Abdullah to care for patients in need of home health care, especially those with severe disabilities.
The Foundation provides all essentials for treatment as well as monthly and annual aid to the needy patients. It also provides them with clothing, in addition to medical devices and other needs.
Al-Abdal concluded by emphasizing the importance of community participation and motivation for all by all possible means.
Professor Randa Al-Fadl, chairman of the Exhibition Committee, clarified that the participation of more than 160 organizations from inside and outside the Kingdom is the largest evidence of the great interest in the exhibition and its importance.
She pointed out that the exhibition is supported by a wide range of private sector organizations within the Kingdom and abroad, in addition to the participation of the General Entertainment Authority under the guidance of Turki Al-Sheikh.
Dr. Ruwaida Masoud, director of the Medical Department of the Foundation, said: "In 2018, the Foundation supported eight health care centers in different regions of the Kingdom. The total number of patients benefiting were 13,193 through these centers. The direct patients from public hospitals amounted to 2,841 patients, taking the total number of patients receiving the Foundation's support in 2018 to 16,034.
The exhibition "Besat Alreyh" is organized by "Nara'ak" every year for six days of the holy month of Ramadan with all proceeds going to the Foundation to support its charitable work across the Kingdom. — SG
