JEDDAH – Sales of ACDelco automotive spare parts in Saudi Arabia rose 21 percent year-on-year in the first six months of 2013, helping drive the brand's overall sales in the Middle East.
Sales in Kuwait rose 24 percent, while sales in the region jumped 27 percent, as demand for genuine parts in the Gulf remained strong.
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) accounts for 98 percent of ACDelco's Middle East sales, with Saudi Arabia its largest market, followed by the United Arab Emirates.
"ACDelco sales have performed extremely well this year and I expect this to continue for the remainder of 2013," said Muneer Al Hassan, Regional Parts Wholesale Manager at General Motors Middle East.
"Initiatives such as introducing special programs to develop the wholesales business across the region have helped drive sales. ACDelco offers quality, safe and reliable parts at great value and sets industry standards for premium automotive parts," he added.
The strong performance in Saudi Arabia builds on the first quarter of 2013 when sales there jumped 35 percent year-on-year. In Saudi Arabia, General Motors' dedicated dealer Aljomaih Automotive Company (AAC), is embarking on an extensive upgrading project and will renovate and upgrade all 19 ACDelco service centers in the Kingdom in 2013, to improve customer service in GM's largest market in the Middle East.
Seven facilities are located in the country's capital Riyadh, two are in Jeddah and two in Madina. Aljomaih will also renovate a service center at Hail in the Kingdom's Central Region, and service centers at Al Ahsa, Al-Khobar and Jubail in the Eastern Region as well as Khamis and Najran in the south and Taif and Yanbu in the west.
ACDelco currently supplies more than 100,000 components in 57 different classifications, including batteries, filters, oil, brakes and wipers. It continues to expand its product portfolio to address parts requirements for the region ensuring full coverage of service and maintenance parts at competitive prices for GM vehicles. — SG
