RIYADH —
Turki Bin Abdulmohsen Al Sheikh, chairman at the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), has announced the launch of two contests recently, including a contest for the most beautiful recitation of the Holy Qur’an and another for most beautiful adhan (call for prayer) voice.

Those contests were announced earlier this year during the unveiling of GEA’s new strategy, and have a dedicated amount of prizes valued at SR12 million ($3.2 million).

The Holy Qur’an contest aims to discover and promote recitation talents from all over the world. Participants will be judged based on their vocals and ability to convey the beauty of the Holy Qur’an and its meanings through their recitations. The contest also seeks to encourage youth to read the Qur’an, learn its implications, and abide by its valuable teachings. ‘The first place winner will receive an amount of SR5 million, while second, third, and fourth place winners will get SR2 million, SR1 million, and half million Saudi riyals, respectively.

Furthermore, the adhan contest, which is considered as the first of its kind in the history, aspires to celebrate beautiful voices, and encourage participants to accomplish the honor of performing the call to prayer at the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah. The first place winner will receive SR2 million, while second, third, and fourth place winners will receive 1 million, half million and a quarter a million Saudi riyals, respectively.
