Saudi Arabia seeks resumption of talks in Sudan

JEDDAH – Saudi Arabia expressed deep concern over the developments in Sudan on Wednesday and called on all parties to resume talks to end the crisis.

“The government of Saudi Arabia is following with great concern the developments in the sisterly Republic of Sudan, which resulted in a number of deaths and injuries. The Kingdom hopes that wisdom will prevail on all parties in Sudan to choose constructive dialogue to safeguard the country’s security and stability as well as to protect the people of Sudan from all harm, while maintaining the country’s unity and safeguarding all its gains,” the Kingdom said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency.

Saudi Arabia reiterated the importance of resuming dialogue among various parties in Sudan to fulfill the aspirations of the Sudanese people. “The Kingdom reaffirms its unwavering support to Sudan and its people in all aspects that will help the country achieve security, stability, and prosperity, while hoping that it will expeditiously overcome the current circumstances and challenges facing the country,” the statement said.

The Kingdom also offered its deep condolences to the families of the victims and to the people of Sudan, wishing a speedy recovery for the wounded.
