JEDDAH —
King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah on Sunday conducted the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK), the Chinese language proficiency test for its male and female students studying this language.

The KAAU is the first university in the Kingdom to examine its students on the HSK since the study of the language began in several Saudi universities.

Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, has asked for the study of the Chinese language so as to enable Saudi and Chinese people and companies to communicate easily with each other.

The test was conducted by the center to exchange the Chinese sciences and culture in the university.

Abdul Moneim Al-Hayani, undersecretary of the university for educational affairs, toured the place of the examination which was being conducted at six levels.

The examination was aimed at checking the standard of the language for the non-Chinese speakers and if they can use it easily in the daily communication and also in academic life.

The center is organizing study sessions to teach the language. It is also organizing teaching trips to China.
