Georgia becoming popular destination for Saudi tourists

RIYADH — flynas, a Saudi national air carrier and leading low-cost airline in the Middle East organized a trip to Batumi, Georgia for journalists and media influencers working for various Saudi TV & radio channels, newspapers and websites. The trip was conducted in cooperation with the Georgian National Tourism Administration, which enabled participants to meet with the Georgian Ambassador designated to Saudi Arabia Vakhtang Jaoshvili.

Bandar Al-Muhanna, flynas' Chief Executive Officer, said the trip aimed to introduce the Saudi media to Batumi, a destination recently added by flynas as part of its expansion plans. He added that the airline seeks to encourage media professionals to explore the culture and ancient civilizations of Georgia through a varied itinerary including prominent landmarks, tourist attractions, and natural beauty.

Al-Muhanna also described the trip as a positive opportunity and important step to visit new cities, which comes as part of flynas’ expansion plan aspiring to meet its passengers’ demands and offer them special travel deals and exciting destinations, including Georgia which has recently become a popular destination for Saudi tourists”.

Furthermore, Al-Muhanna thanked the Georgian National Tourism Administration and Voyager, stressing that such trips form an important opportunity which opens new doors to flynas guests to get acquainted with new cultures.

Jaoshvili, also the Georgian special envoy to the OIC, praised this step, which promotes tourism cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Georgia and aims to support the tourism industry in both countries.

He stressed that diplomatic relations between the two countries are witnessing a remarkable development reflected through partnerships emerging throughout several fields, including the tourism sector, which encourages the citizens of both countries to visit Georgia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

flynas has recently added several destinations, including Lahore, Islamabad, Algeria, Trabzon, Erbil, Baghdad, Sarajevo, Vienna, Batumi, Tbilisi, and Baku. Moreover, the airline has also announced its expansion strategy for the next phase which seeks to add more destinations and contribute toward doubling its number of passengers, which reached 6.6 million passengers on 60,000 domestic and international flights last year. — SG
