RIYADH — The Arab coalition fighting to restore legitimacy in Yemen said it has intercepted and destroyed a bomb-laden drone launched by the Houthi militia toward a populated residential area in Saudi Arabia’s Asir region.
Col. Turki al-Maliki, the spokesman for the Arab Coalition, said the forces managed to intercept the drone launched by the Houthi militia toward Asir at 11:45 p.m. local time.
The destroyed the Houthi drone, the second to be launched on Saturday night. Another Houthi drone targeting the southern border city of Jazan was intercepted and shot down hours earlier.
“The Houthi terrorists continue to launch drones to carry out hostile and terrorist acts by targeting civilians and public facilities, but none of their targets have been achieved,” Al-Maliki said in an earlier statement.
The interception of the missile targeting Jazan took place at 10:45 p.m. local time, Col. Al-Maliki said, adding that the Houthis fired the missile from Sanaa. — SG/SPA
