Streets in Makkah to have special tracks for the blind

MAKKAH —
The municipality of Makkah is planning to set up special tracks in a number of streets in Makkah for the blind to use without the need for help from the others, according to Makkah daily on Sunday.

The municipality said the special tracks for the blind will be established in Al-Otaibiyyah, Al-Khansa and Ibn Hassan streets.

It said using white sticks, the blind can easily use these tracks to reach their destinations in the holy city.

The municipality said the blind will be able to walk safely and comfortably without going out of the tracks till their arrival at the desired destination.

It said it has prepared a directory for arrival showing the height and the elevations so that the blind can easily recognize and avoid problems.
