DAMMAM — The Criminal Court in Dammam has sentenced a young Saudi man in his 20s to one month in prison, 50 whip lashes to be applied at once and asked him to pay SR126,000 in compensation for breaking the teeth of a nine-year-old expatriate boy by kicking him from behind when his favorite team Brazil lost to Belgium during the World Soccer Cup in Russia in July 2018.
The young citizen was devastated by the loss of Brazil so he could not bear the teasing of the young expatriate and kicked him hard from the back.
The young boy fell down, hit an iron fence, lost his front teeth and bruised his gum and lips.
Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al-Hilo, the victim's father, said his son went out to watch the match in Al-Faiha District.
He said his son entered into an argument with the Saudi fan who got so exasperated by the loss of his favorite team that he hit the expatriate boy.
The court gave the assailant a month to appeal its ruling.
