RIYADH — The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has launched a system enabling issuing electronic powers of attorney (PoAs) through Saudi embassies and consulates, allowing citizens to use those services instantly and saving them time and effort.

“In cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), we have implemented the system starting with the Saudi Embassy and consulates in Egypt, to be expanded later to the Kingdom's diplomatic missions around the world,” the MoJ noted.

Formerly, a client had to get a paper PoA issued abroad from a Saudi embassy, and send it by post to the Kingdom for MOFA and MoJ certifications. Now they can get an electronic PoA issued by a Saudi embassy, and can use it the moment it has been issued.

Agencies can verify the electronic PoA through the MoJ portal online; in addition, the client can view the PoA and revoke it on the same portal.

The new system is part of the ministry’s plan for digital transformation of notarization, starting with the implementation of electronic PoAs last October.
