GEA extends registration period for Qur’an Recitation and Athan competitions

RIYADH — The General Entertainment Authority (GEA) has announced the extension of the registration period for the Qur’an Recitation and Athan competitions till Aug. 18, 2019, instead of July 22 to enable all those wishing to take part to register Saudi Press Agency reported Thursday.

By extending the registration period, GEA seeks to accommodate a larger turnout of interested participants from all over the world. GEA also stated that it would announce the new dates for the next three stages soon.

GEA Chairman Turki Bin Abdul-Mohsen Al Al-Sheikh launched the two religious competitions earlier this year. The competitions are proving a big draw, witnessing a heavy turnout with 30,000 participants until July 23.
