NEW YORK — The New Jersey Devils acquired forward Nikita Gusev in a trade with the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday.
The Golden Knights received a third-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft and a second-round pick in the 2021 draft.
Gusev, 27, agreed to a two-year, $9 million contract with the Devils following the trade. The Russian was a restricted free agent.
Gusev signed a one-year, entry-level contract with Vegas in April in the midst of its first-round series with San Jose. The Sharks would beat the Golden Knights in seven games and Gusev would not play in the series.
Gusev played in the Kontinental Hockey League since the 2010-11 season. With SKA St. Petersburg last season, he led the league in scoring with 82 points (17 goals, 65 assists), earning KHL MVP honors.
Gusev was also named the Best Forward at the 2018 Olympics, where he scored 12 points in Olympic Athletes from Russia's run to the gold medal. — Reuters
