TABUK —
Abeer Al-Anzi, the Saudi woman who went missing in Istanbul several days ago, was found on Monday and she is in good health, the Saudi embassy in Turkey said.

Speaking to Okaz/Saudi Gazette, Waleed Al-Khariji, Saudi ambassador to Turkey, confirmed spotting the young woman who disappeared nearly a week ago.

The Saudi embassy in Ankara and the consulate general in Istanbul have formed a task force to follow up the case with the Turkish authorities. These efforts have been crowned with success in finding the Saudi citizen on Monday. The embassy and the consulate are facilitating the procedures for her return to the Kingdom at the earliest possible.

Abeer disappeared while walking next to a hotel in the Asian part of Istanbul, where she was staying with her family. The woman had arrived in Istanbul with her husband and children for tourism purposes.

Security surveillance cameras showed “a person, carrying a small bottle, sprayed on the face of the Saudi tourist, who eventually lost consciousness. He then took her with him until she disappeared from the scene,” the sources added.

The Turkish authorities, in coordination with the Saudi diplomatic missions, launched a massive search that resulted in locating her.

The Saudi embassy in Turkey had issued a warning last week to its citizens after unidentified gunmen shot at and robbed a group of Saudi nationals in Istanbul. In a statement, the embassy said that the tourists were sitting in a café in Istanbul’s Sisli district when gunmen shot at one of them and stole the group’s personal belongings.

The embassy said that the man sustained bullet wounds but did not disclose how severe his injury was.

The embassy asked Saudi nationals in Turkey to take all precautions during their stay and to avoid going to Sisli and Taksim Square — two popular tourist spots in the city — after sunset.
