RIYADH — The Saudi-led Arab coalition intercepted a drone launched by Iran-backed Houthi militia targeting Saudi Arabia early on Thursday. The drone attack took place just hours after a Houthi cruise missile landed at Abha International Airport, causing no injuries.

Commenting on the drone attack, Col. Turki Al-Maliki, the spokesperson for the Arab Coalition, said the coalition forces managed to intercept and shoot down a drone launched from Saada on Thursday morning.

Col. Turki Al-Maliki said the attack targeting the airport took place at 11:35 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Houthi militia continues to do its immoral acts by targeting civilians, Al-Maliki said.

“The Houthi terrorist militia continues its unethical practices of targeting civilians and civilian infrastructures against international humanitarian law and its customary rules. Through its media, it has claimed full responsibility for this terrorist act using a cruise missile, which is an explicit recognition and full responsibility of its targeting of civilians,” Al-Maliki said.

Earlier in the day, the Arab Coalition said it had intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone fired from Yemen’s Sanaa toward Saudi Arabia. — Agencies
