Saudi, UK to boost defense ties

LONDON — Prince Khalid Bin Bandar Bin Sultan, Saudi Ambassador to the United Kingdom, met with the British Secretary of State for Defense Ben Wallace and a number of senior officials in London on Thursday.

During the meeting, they reviewed the strong relations between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom, and ways of enhancing relations and pushing them to broader horizons. They also discussed the ways for enhancing cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

The meeting was also attended by Lt. Gen. John Lorimer, defense senior advisor Middle East, Angus Lapsley, director for defense, international security and South East Europe at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Dominic Wilson, director general of security policy at the Ministry of Defense, Peter Watkins, the British-Saudi defense project chief, Brig. Gen. Riyad Abu Obat, military attaché at Saudi embassy, and head of the delegation of the Ministry of Defense Maj. Gen. Fouad Al-Harbi.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of Prince Khalid’s visit to the Defense and Security Equipment International (DSEI), which is an international defense and security exhibition, which will conclude at Excel London on Friday, Sept. 13. — SG/SPA
