AZERBAIJAN — World-famous Disneyland Park will be built near Azerbaijan's capital Baku in the unique city of Khazar Islands.
The Disneyland will be designed to simultaneously receive 200,000 tourists, besides local residents.
At the same time, a rally track will be built on the islands, along with 10 hotel brands with the height of 70-85 stories, according to the Avesta concern, which is building Khazar Islands.
Disneyland is the complex of amusement parks of the world-famous Walt Disney Company. It includes five theme parks. The famous amusement park can be found in many major cities all around the world.
Khazar Islands, which is being built on an artificial archipelago, will consist of 50 islands of various sizes, whose total area will be 3 hectares and include 19 districts. In total, the archipelago will span 30 million square meters.
Different parks, social facilities, including 150 schools, 50 kindergartens and hospitals, numerous cinemas, theaters, restaurants and shopping centers will be built there.
The islands will be dominated by high-rise buildings and resort-like accommodations, with miles of unspoiled beaches and warm, shallow waters.
Special considerations were taken in the design of the island's structures to withstand up to a 9.0 magnitude quake.
The project will be implemented in three stages until 2024-2026, and first residents will settle there in 2013-2014. — SG
