Ministry OKs six sports halls for female students

RIYADH — The Ministry of Education has approved six sports halls for female students and floated 250 bids for schools to promote student’s participation in sports.

It also has launched 250 projects and awarded contracts while setting up standards and conditions for the targeted schools.

Eng. Abdulrahman Alshayea, under-secretary of education for projects and maintenance, confirmed the final receipt of 10 educational projects worth SR98.8 million.

He unveiled a plan to build 53 educational buildings as the first phase with a value of SR3.2 million, as well as 32 educational buildings in the second phase with a total value of SR4.5 million.

Alshayea confirmed the completion of 9 educational projects worth SR55.7 million, and the formation of a committee for 18 educational projects worth SR74.5 million.

He noted that during October the ministry had canceled seven projects worth SR81.8 million, and revoked four contracts at a total value of SR37.6 million. — SPA
