JEDDAH —
As many as 532 Saudis were evacuated from Lebanon until Monday, according to Madhi Al-Anzi, head of the the section of the affairs of the Saudi citizens at the Saudi Embassy in Beirut.

He said a number of students were also evacuated but he did not reveal their exact number.

Anzi said the embassy has formulated an emergency committee to overlook the safe and easy evacuation of Saudi citizens.

He said the committee will take the evacuees to the airport to ensure their road safety.

Anzi said since the beginning of the incidents and the demonstrations in Beirut, the embassy has been advising Saudis to stay away from the places of trouble for their own safety and well being.

Earlier this week, Saudi Arabia urged its citizens to avoid traveling to Lebanon and advised those already in Lebanon to be extremely cautious.

Accordingly, the Kingdom’s embassy in Beirut began operations to evacuate its citizens.

The embassy also asked its citizens to quickly communicate with it for preparations to leave Lebanon.

It has allocated a local hotel located on the coastal side of the capital Beirut as a meeting point for its citizens, visitors and residents, in order to transport them to the Beirut international airport for evacuation to the Kingdom.
Egypt and Kuwait have also asked their citizens to be careful and avoid areas of gatherings and protests.
