JEDDAH —
The transfer of the ownership of vehicles will soon be done through Absher electronic gate of the Interior Ministry without the need to visit car showrooms, according to market sources who said the citizens and expatriates will no longer have to go to the offices specialized in the transfer of ownership.

They said the selling, buying and transfer of ownership can be done via Absher but the transfer of other ownerships concerning other trade activities of companies and establishments will still have to be done through the showrooms.

Absher provides a number of car services including inquiry about the validity of the vehicle insurance, the validity of car registration and traffic violations.

During the past two months Absher introduced a number of services including extension of the business visit, issuance of the final exit visa, and the signal services for the deaf and dumb.

Absher is providing more than 180 electronic services around-the-clock to more than 13.5 million subscribers.

It had started with a single service in 2005.

Absher is electronically linking as many as 26 ministries and government departments.
