ABHA — Several schools affiliated to the Department of Education in Asir have opened classrooms and launched programs to teach Chinese language to male and female students.

Director of the department, Saad Al-Jouni, reviewed the experiments of some schools in the region and was briefed about the educational programs to teach Chinese language to the students.

He underscored the importance of the language in strengthening relations between peoples and countries at all levels and said it will enrich the output of education and develop the skills of the students.

Schools and universities in the Kingdom started giving much attention to the Chinese language following the directives of Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman in February to teach the language in schools and universities.

According to educationalists, the inclusion of Chinese language in the Saudi curriculum will enrich the cultural diversity of the students and enable the Kingdom to achieve the goals of its Vision 2030 in the domain of education.

They said teaching of a foreign language will open new horizons for the students to learn a new means of communication.

They said teaching of Chinese language, which represents a bridge between the two people, will further boost trade and cultural relations between the two countries.

According to them, this is a significant step reflecting the openness of the Kingdom toward the languages of the advanced countries in the fields of technology and artificial intelligence.
