NAJRAN — A Saudi sculptor has manifested his genuine creativity in making replicas of monuments in the Kingdom to convey a message to the coming generations to enjoy and preserve their country's heritage and make tourists and other interested people aware of its rich cultural history.
Hussain Qadiyah Al-Jaaran gives his soul to make replicas of monuments with their minute architectural details which portrays their aesthetic beauty.
Al-Jaaran lives in the southern city of Najran. He holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration.
Al-Jaaran told Al-Arabiya.net that since his early childhood he had been fascinated with painting and sculpture.
He said at that earlier age he was presenting his work to the society and the school where he was encouraged and supported.
"One day my mother asked me to make a monument for old mud house. I made it. It was so beautiful that it changed by concerns about art since that time. I became specialist in sculpture especially making replicas of the best monuments," he said.
Jaaran said he has a vision which is commensurate with the Kingdom's 2030 Vision to “preserve our heritage, the historic places and present our history and culture to the whole world.”
He said he started making replicas of the monuments of Madain Saleh and the relics of the rift valley in the south. He added that he had won many awards and letters of appreciation for this work.
"My works were shown at Al-Janadriyah festival for 10 years and also in Al-Shariqah exhibition in the UAE," he said.
Al-Jaaran said the art of magnifying historic monuments can attract tourists from outside and also withdraw investors who want to see replicas before they travel to the Kingdom to see the monuments live.
