RIYADH — The Public Prosecution has directed to file a criminal lawsuit against a Palestinian national accused of torturing his baby girl after a video of the abuse went viral on social media.

This follows submission of a report by the Monitoring Unit in the Public Prosecution after the circulation of the video clip.

Criminal procedures will be initiated against the Palestinian man in accordance with Article 17 of the Criminal Procedures Law and other rules after verifying the validity of the video. The legal procedures will be completed against the offender in coordination with the concerned authorities in this regard.

The Public Prosecution affirmed that the laws that are in force in the Kingdom criminalize harming or abusing children and that those who commit such acts would be subject to deterrent penal action in accordance with the relevant regulations and instructions.
