JEDDAH — The Ministry Industry and Mineral Resources (MEIM) and Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) with the cooperation of Japanese organizations such as JIPM and JCCME conducted an intensive productive maintenance training program (PM training) in Jeddah for Saudi engineers of manufacturing companies at MODON from November.
Unlike many business seminars, the training contents put more emphasis on the practical side, and training participants had an opportunity to visit SAMCO factory to apply what they have learnt in the class room to the real working place, which stimulated participants’ eagerness to share and discuss ideas to realize more productive production in the factory.
The Japanese training programs for young Saudi engineers were held successfully in the past 5 times, and 23 young Saudi engineers attended PM program, and 22 engineers successfully completed the training and were awarded certificates for completion of the course by Mazen M. Johar, deputy minister of industrial services, and Masayuki Miyamoto, consul general of Japan in Saudi Arabia.
Productive maintenance training is one of the programs to be conducted under Vision 2030 in the field of the development of the private sector and strengthening SMEs in the Kingdom by the Saudi-Japan joint effort. There are also three more trainings to be conducted in January and February next year in MODON, which is about quality control, lean production, and six sigma.
