Study ordered to strengthen educational panel’s mission

Prince Badr Bin Abdullah Bin Farhan, minister of culture and chairman of the National Committee for Education, Science and Culture (NCESC), has directed the creation of a specialized committee to study the needs of NCESC and ways to develop and strengthen its mission. The minister has directed to submit the findings to him within 30 days.

Prince Badr asked the committee to carry out studies about the advantages of the Kingdom’s membership in the relevant international organizations, activate the consultative role of the concerned authorities in the Kingdom with the affiliated organizations, work on assessing the current situation and identifying opportunities for development in the national committee, along with emphasizing the importance of reviewing the organizational structure, policies, procedures, governance and frameworks. He also stressed the importance of defining the national priority agenda and building complementary governance with affiliated organizations.

The minister’s directive emphasized the importance of the role of NCESC in employing the strategic components of the Kingdom, and highlighting and enhancing the Kingdom’s regional and international standing in order to reach out to the best international practices so as to achieve its objectives at all levels in light of the Kingdom’s leading role in the Arab and Islamic World.

NCESC, headed by minister of culture, has succeeded in the task of getting Saudi Arabia nominated and elected to the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), with the highest number of votes form its Arab group.

It is worth mentioning that NCESC represents the Kingdom in UNESCO, Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), and Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO).
