JEDDAH – Construction Products Holding Company (CPC) signed an agreement with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) to sponsor its Fifth Winter Enrichment Program (WEP) 2014.
Dr. Faysal Alaquil, CPC Director of Business Development and Head of CSR, signed the agreement on behalf of CPC and Dr. Abdullah Almojel, Vice President of University Development, signed for KAUST. Maie Binladin, Deputy Head of CSR and Sahar Alshenawi, Assistant Director of Business Development at CPC, Prof. James Calvin, Vice President for Education, Prof. William Roberts, WEP Chairman and Marie-Laure Boulot, WEP Manager from KAUST, were present at the signing.
Almojel said: “Each year WEP supports variety of events to the wider KAUST community. Now in its Fifth year WEP continues to bring another exciting program. We at KAUST are happy to share this passion with CPC as our inaugural sponsor for WEP 2014. By being a sponsor for WEP, CPC is not only increasing its social awareness program but also they are reaffirming the King’s vision in education."
Roberts spoke about the development of the program over the last five years and highlighted the main themes of the program, saying "looking ahead to WEP 2014 we are preparing to celebrate the UN International Year of Family Farming and the main themes of the program will include Food & Farming, Innovation, Underwater and Environment."
Alaquil reaffirmed that WEP sponsorship is part of the company's strategy to continue supporting educational programs at various Saudi universities. “We are proud of our alignment with KAUST and very happy to be part of their community programs,” he said.
He also said the KAUST is “one of the best examples” of national vision and sustainability.
CPC representatives toured the University campus in Thuwal and got a glimpsed at the library, the Visualization Center (Cornea), Advanced Nano Fabrication, Imaging & Characterization Lab and the museum. — SG
