December 03, 2019

JEDDAH — As part of its efforts and commitment to empower disabled persons and enable them to play their role in the society and raise public awareness about disability issues, SAVOLA Group marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities this year by honoring the champions of the Saudi national team for individuals with mental disabilities and launching two relevant initiatives.

The group organized a ceremony on this occasion attended by Rami Ezz Al-Din, Director of the Social Development Center in Jeddah; Salim Al Zahrani, Director of Corporations and Associations at the center; a number of officials; and guests. To emphasize the importance of inclusion, where people with disabilities are fully integrated in the society, the ceremony was presented by Lulwa Al-Abdullah, an influential blind radio announcer.

"Believing in the importance of empowering people with disabilities as active members of the society, SAVOLA continues its efforts to help these people in every way possible," said Eng. Anees Ahmed Moumina, CEO of SAVOLA Group. "Our recent launch of an updated website allowing the blind community to access content is a translation of our strategy of providing tools that enable disabled people to succeed and stand out. This is also part of our contribution to the achievement of Saudi Vision 2030, which calls for providing the disabled community with education, employment, and integration opportunities."

Tarik M. Ismail, Executive Director for Corporate Affairs & Sustainability, said: "We realize the importance of raising the Saudi people's awareness about the need to respect the rights of people with disabilities. On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and as part of our "Makeen" CSR program, we launched an awareness campaign using short video messages to explain the rights of people with disabilities and the importance of building their capacities and qualifying them to join the labor market and help in building the future of the country."

“Honoring the Saudi Arabian National Team for Special Needs came in recognition of the team's successes, as it won the INAS World Football Championships for the fourth time in a row. We are proud of the team and its achievements” Ismail concluded. — SG
