JAZAN — The Border Guards in Jazan region evacuated a 40-year-old Indian sailor who had lost consciousness on board a ship in the Red Sea. “Farasan,” a ship belonging to the Border Guard Command in the region, led the rescue operation on Saturday morning after it was alerted by a ship, located west of the Jazan port, in the waters of the Red Sea.
Lt. Col. Misfer Al-Quraini, spokesman of the Border Guard, said that the Jeddah Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (JMRCC) received a distress call from the captain of the Djibouti-flagged ship “Markab,” informing that a member of the cabin crew had fainted and needed medical evacuation.
After locating the ship, the health emergency director in Jeddah contacted the captain of the ship to give him the necessary medical instructions. Subsequently, the patient was evacuated on board the ship Farasan that docked at Prince Ahmed Naval Base in Jazan and from there the sailor was taken to hospital.
