RIYADH —
The Youth Engagement Group of the G20 started preparations for the Summit of the Youth (Y20) from the member countries of G20 countries, scheduled to be held on October 10-18 this year, prior to the G20 Summit.

The Mohammed Bin Salman Foundation (Misk), in cooperation with the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra), organized the preparatory meetings. Saudi Arabia is holding the presidency of G20 Summit of 2020 slated for November.

Y20 Engagement Group, part of the wider G20, is hosting delegates in Saudi Arabia over the course of 2020 to discuss and develop policies for the benefit of young people around the world.

These policies will take their place alongside others from different G20 engagement groups to be presented to the G20 Heads of State for their consideration, approval, and activation.

Delegates of the meeting are framing recommendations for consideration and approval of the final statement, which will be submitted to the leaders of the G20 countries during their next summit meeting due to be held in Riyadh.

The youth summit is expected to discuss and frame policies for the benefit of youth all over the world, through three main pivotal areas of global citizenship; effective solution of problems after taking into account of cultural differences; and youth empowerment and preparing to meet and overcome future challenges.

This comes as an extension of the important role being played by Misk and Ithra in supporting and empowering young people at the local and international levels to help them develop their ideas so as to become active members of the international community and to participate in sustainable development.

It is mentioned that the Youth Engagement Group of G20 (Y20) is an independent group representing the youth of the world, and it is one of the eight official communication groups led by civil society organizations in the host country, under the umbrella of G20 and it includes: Business Group (B20), Civil Society Group (C20), Labor Group (L20), thought group (T20), women group (W20), science group (S20), urban society group (U20), and youth group (Y20).
