Kingdom suspends all sports activities

RIYADH – All sports activities in the Kingdom stand suspended from Sunday (March 15) till further notice, the Ministry of Sports announced on Saturday.

As such, various games, all championships and competitions have been put on hold, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) cited the ministry as announcing.

In addition, all private sports halls and centers will be closed down as of Sunday till further notice, the ministry said.

The announcement comes as part of the government measures to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and ensure the safety of the citizens and expatriates in the Kingdom, the ministry added.

These measures are in line with the recommendations of the pertinent committees to follow the latest developments pertaining to the spread of this virus due to the Kingdom’s keenness to safeguard public health, praying to Allah Almighty to grant safety and health to all, the ministry said.
