The precautionary measures taken by Saudi Arabia to prevent the spread of the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Kingdom respect human rights in all aspects, said Dr. Awwad Bin Saleh Al-Awwad, president of Human Rights Commission in a report carried by Saudi Press Agency.

Lauding the efforts of the government agencies in combating the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Saudi Arabia, Al-Awwad said the steps taken by the concerned authorities respect all human rights, including the right of having all information on the virus, treatment of the infected people or isolating the suspected, and the right of protecting the society from diseases.

Saudi Arabia’s proactive measures reflect its great ability of situation assessment, efficient crisis management and efficient implementation of World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations related to the virus in order to protect its citizens and residents, Al-Awwad added.

He also stressed that the Kingdom’s efforts to combat coronavirus are not limited to dealing with the local situation, but extended to include the international crisis.

The government of Saudi Arabia has intensified cooperation with global organizations to address the virus, and upon the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Saudi Arabia donated $10 million to the World Health Organization for the implementation of urgent measures, Al-Awwad said. — SPA
