KUWAIT CITY — Seventeen new cases of coronavirus were reported in Kuwait in the last 24 hours, raising the total to 225 in the country, Kuwait News Agency reported on Friday citing a statement from the Health Ministry.

The ministry's spokesperson Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said that out of the 17 new cases, five are related to travel and four among them are Kuwaiti nationals who had traveled to the US, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, France, and while and a resident who had arrived from Jordan.

Furthermore, nine cases, seven nationals and two residents, were in contact with already infected people, while three other cases are currently under investigation, he added.

The spokesman also said that out of the 225 cases, 57 of them have recovered and 168 are still receiving treatment and care. A total of 11 people are in intensive care.


Citizens and residents were urged to abide by all the guidelines and instructions issued by the authorities.
