UAE reports 72 new coronavirus cases, taking total to 405

ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates announced 72 new cases of coronavirus, raising the total number of infections in the country to 405, the state news agency WAM reported on Friday quoting a statement from the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention.

According to the statement, three more patients — one Pakistani and two Bangladeshis — have recovered, taking the total number of recoveries to 55.

Out of the total 72 cases, 23 are Indians, 8 Bangladeshis, five each from Britain, Lebanon and Pakistan, four UAE citizens and two persons each from Nepal and Ethiopia.

The others included one person from each of Bosnia and Herzegovina, China, Comoros, Greece, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Palestine, Romania , Syria, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sweden , Uruguay and Yemen.

All of the patients are in stable condition and receiving necessary medication in state hospitals, the statement added.

The ministry and other health authorities called upon citizens and residents to follow healthy practices, like washing hands regularly with water and soap, covering the nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing in order to protect themselves from infections.
