UAE reports 370 new coronavirus cases and 2 more deaths

ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates on Friday reported 370 new coronavirus cases and two more deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 3,360 and 16 fatalities so far in the country, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health and Prevention carried by state news agency WAM.

As part of the country’s Ministry of Health and Prevention's plan to expand and increase the scope of tests in the country in order to bring the novel coronavirus under control, the ministry said that it conducted more than 49,000 new tests on different segments of society, including citizens and residents, using the best and latest medical examination techniques, said the report.

The newly detected cases are from different nationalities and they are stable and receiving the necessary medical care.

The ministry also said that the two people who died on Friday were Asians and they were suffering from chronic diseases.

The ministry expressed its regret and sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and its wishes for a speedy recovery of all the infected cases, calling on community members to cooperate with health authorities, follow the instructions and adhere to the social distancing guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all.

The ministry also announced the recovery of 150, bringing the total number of recoveries to 418 in the country.
