DUBAI -- Bahrain reported 161 new coronavirus cases and one new fatality, bringing the total number of active cases in the country to 870 and the virus-related death toll to seven.

The new death is of a 60-year-old Bahraini citizen who suffered from chronic illnesses, the ministry said.

Out of the 161 new cases, 156 are of migrant workers, three are of individuals who had contact with infected people, and two cases who had traveled abroad.

The 156 cases were discovered after 3,581 tests were conducted as part of a national campaign to test workers who live in areas that predominantly house migrants, the ministry said. -- Al Arabiya English
