JEDDAH — The Municipality of Jeddah has installed thermal cameras inside malls and shopping centers to monitor body temperature of customers as well as workers, Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.

The installation of automated devices, which has been done in coordination with the cyber security, is part of the national efforts being undertaken to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Explaining the move, a top municipal official said that people, who are found to have high body temperature, will not allowed to enter shopping centers, they will rather be sent to nearby medical centers for further test.

He also said these cameras will also monitor the application of the prescribed preventive and safety measures by workers inside the shopping malls.
