Friday marks the first day of Ramadan

RIYADHFriday, April 24, will be the first day of the fasting month of Ramadan this year, the Saudi Supreme Court has announced.

“After receiving testimonies about sighting of the Ramadan crescent on Thursday evening, Ramadan fasting will begin on Friday," the royal court said in a statement quoting the Supreme Court.

The court held its session on Thursday evening and reviewed the reports received from different courts that showed that many from different regions came up with testimonies of sighting the crescent after sunset.

Friday will be the first day of Ramadan in all other Gulf states as well as in many Arab and Muslim countries. — SG
