MAKKAH — The Public Health Administration has set up a special operations room in the holy city’s Directorate of Health Affairs to monitor and follow up the registered cases of infection with novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said on Monday.

The operations room receives reports on confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection from all the health facilities in Makkah. These cases are registered through an electronic platform linked to the operations room and health facilities.

All the data are analyzed and reviewed and all the information related to the registered cases in Makkah is collated at the operations room.

The operations room comprises a special center for information on preventive medicine to prepare reports on the cases around the clock. In addition, there is the electronic system for listing people who have mingled with the CoVID-19 cases. Making a list is necessary for contacting those who have into contacts with the infected cases and to direct them to coronavirus facilities in their respective localities for coronavirus tests in order to be reassured about their health condition.

The operations room follows up the continuous epidemiological investigations with the field teams working round the clock, Makkah Health Affairs said.

Makkah Health Affairs has allocated four primary healthcare centers to receive, check up and test suspected coronavirus cases. They are the health centers in Sharayea Al-Mujahideen, Al-Mansour, Al-Khalidiah and Hadda.

Two sites — Al-Hindawiyah and Al-Umrah seasonal health centers — have been allocated as a starting point for the field teams to carry out epidemiological investigations, health awareness campaigns and visual screening of the residential neighborhoods in Makkah. The aim is to complete collecting information that will make it necessary for the field teams to pay visits to the districts. — SG
