RIYADH — A woman infected with coronavirus gave birth to a baby boy in a Riyadh hospital in what is believed to be the first such case in the Riyadh region.

The baby is in good health while the health condition of the mother is improving steadily, sources at Imam Abdul Rahman Al-Faisal Hospital said.

Immediately after the delivery, the baby was subjected to a number of medical procedures as part of precautionary measures to ensure his safety.

A medical team at the hospital succeeded in dealing with the case, by adopting a set of health standards and procedures necessary to deal with such cases, and followed the highest precautions to ensure the safety of both the mother and the baby.
