ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates on Friday registered 557 new coronavirus cases, raising the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country to 13,038, the Ministry of Health and Prevention said in a statement carried by state news agency WAM.
The ministry also said that six more people have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths in the country to 111.
The deceased are from different countries who were suffering from pre-existing chronic illnesses, according to the ministry.
Meanwhile a total of 114 patients have completely recovered after receiving the necessary treatment, bringing the total of recoveries in the country to 2,543.
All the newly detected cases were identified after carrying out more than 26,000 additional coronavirus tests among different segments of the society over the past few days. They are in a stable condition and receiving the necessary care, the ministry said
It expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to all patients.
The ministry also urged the public to cooperate with health authorities and follow all precautionary measures, particularly social distancing protocols, to ensure the safety and protection of the public.
