RIYADH — The General Directorate of Prisons launched the second version of the Furijat service on the Absher portal of the Ministry of Interior following the directives of Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz Bin Saud Bin Naif.

The new version of the service has undergone a qualitative development. It classifies prisoners against whom there are executive detention orders in noncriminal financial offenses in accordance with the priority in eligibility for the payment following a number of criteria.

Under the new version, all bills owed to those arrested in connection with financial cases will be included in the service of Furijat and will be linked with the security system with regard to the military personnel against whom there were executive detention orders related to financial cases, in addition to many technical improvements in the service.

The new version of the service comes as a result of cooperation and partnership between the General Directorate of Prisons and the relevant authorities such as the Ministry of Justice, represented by the Ministry’s Agency for Enforcement of Justice; Ministry of Human Resources (the Ministry’s Social Security Agency), and the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (the National Information Center) and the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (electronic payment system SADAD).

The Furijat initiative, which was launched by the Ministry of Interior in late Ramadan last year, allows people to contribute funds to assist detainees in prison for failing to pay off their or for defaulting on payments debts via Absher platform with high credibility and privacy.

This service has contributed to securing the release of many detainees involved in noncriminal financial offenses. The first stage of the service has been earmarked for detainees in noncriminal financial cases, provided that the detainee does not have other cases against him. The second stage includes military detainees facing financial cases and this covers all the military sectors.
