Corona-infected woman undergoes C-section

RIYADH —
A medical team at the Security Forces Hospital here conducted a successful Caesarean section for a woman infected with the new coronavirus COVID-19, under strict precautionary measures, according to a Saudi Press Agency (SPA) report.

The head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Haitham Badr, said that the patient, during her follow-up for her pregnancy, was suspected of being infected with the virus.

He added that the medical team started with the patient’s treatment plan in cooperation with the departments of Pediatrics and Infection Control, noting that the medical team that performed the operation included a group of experts from various departments (obstetrics and childbirth – intensive care for newborns – anesthesia – anesthesia technicians – nursing) taking into account not to increase the number in line with preventive measures to protect medical staff, without affecting the efficiency of providing care.

The head of the Department of Pediatrics, Maj. Gen. Dr. Muhammad Al-Zahrani, said that “the newborn is in good health, thanks to Allah Almighty.
