DUBAI —
Drone footage by Rashud Al-Harthi of the waterfall at Al-Habala mountain near Abha in Saudi Arabia has gone viral as photographs by the same videographer in recent days showed purple blankets of the Jacaranda trees across the city.

The waterfall was shot by Al-Harthi using a drone at the mountain village of Al-Habala, some 55 km from Abha city.

The drone video by Al-Harthi has been retweeted 470 times by the time of publication and viewed more than 75,000 times on Twitter on Saturday.

Abha is the capital of Saudi Arabia’s southwestern Asir province and is a popular tourist destination for Saudi Arabians due to its mild climate, stemming from its location in hills 2,270 meters above sea level.

Speaking to Al Arabiya English, Al-Harthi said he was in Abha to photograph the recent bloom of the purple Jacaranda trees. The aesthetics of this tree and its striking color are attractive to photographers who picked its beauty from different angles, it is a tree suitable for living in cold to moderate areas, and it cannot be planted in hot areas, which are decorative trees with high branches. These trees are basically able to turn the streets of Asir into paintings, where the leaves fall in the shape of bells which smell close to the lavender,” Al-Harthi said. — Al Arabiya English
