JEDDAH — The Saudi Professional League is currently looking at a tentative date for Aug. 20 to resume the Kingdom’s football league after all games were suspended in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a statement from organizers.

League organizers said it will hold an urgent meeting with executive branch members in the next two days to discuss the appropriate mechanism for restarting the Mohammed bin Salman Cup League competition and the best solutions according to the health circumstances.

The most important of details that will be discussed will be the setting of the Aug. 20 date to initially restarting the league.

According to the statement, organizers are also looking at proposed scenarios if the Aug. 20 date is not tenable.

Organizers said they will be working closely with relevant authorities to follow up on the developments of the coronavirus and looking at appropriate measures to develop if the league cannot be resumed at this time.
