ABU DHABI —
The United Arab Emirates on Thursday recorded 698 new coronavirus infections and two deaths in the last 24 hours, the country’s Ministry of Health and Prevention said in a statement carried by the state news agency WAM.



This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 21 084, while the death toll has climbed to 208.

A total of 407 coronavirus patients have fully recovered, bringing the total recoveries to 6, 930 so far, according to the ministry.

The ministry said that the new cases were detected after 37,000 additional tests were conducted over the past few days. The health authorities have performed over 1.5 million tests so far.

The ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and wished active COVID-19 patients a speedy and full recovery.

It called on the public to cooperate with health authorities and adhere to social distancing protocols and preventative measures to ensure the health and safety of all.
