WASHINGTON — The US Navy has confirmed the reports of a possible active shooter at a Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas.

“We are aware of reports of a possible active shooter at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi. More information to follow,” the US Navy tweeted.

The Naval Air Station Corpus Christi earlier announced it was "now in a lockdown status" due to an "active shooter in the vicinity of the North Gate," in a post on Facebook.

“If you are in or near the North Gate, get out and away to safety, the post read. “Executive lockdown procedures — remain indoors away from windows.” — Agencies
