King Salman lauds citizens, residents for adhering to coronavirus measures

Safety and health of citizens and residents a top concern

RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman delivered a speech on Saturday to citizens, residents and Muslims around the world on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, stressing that the safety and health of citizens and residents is at the top of his concerns.

In his speech that was read by Acting Minister of Media Majid Al-Qasabi, King Salman said that the world is facing an unprecedented health crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic that prompted the Kingdom to take urgent actions to prevent its spread.

He thanked citizens and residents for adhering sincerely to precautionary and preventive measures undertaken by the concerned authorities in the Kingdom.

"I greatly appreciate you for celebrating Eid while staying home, committed — with your high awareness and responsibility — to the measures of social distancing as all this is for your own safety and health, King Salman said.

"We, brothers and sisters, by our committed to the precautionary measures while celebrating Eid in our homes and exchanging congratulations on this occasion through electronic communications and correspondence. We thus comply with the teachings of our religion and work, according to its provisions in times of catastrophes and epidemics."

Safety requires understanding from whole community should to this special circumstance, which prevents Muslims from performing Eid prayers in mosques and exchanging visits.

He hoped for everyone to abide by the safety measures approved to control and limit the spread of this pandemic his or her safety and health.


Lauding the role of frontline healthcare workers, King Salman said that the country takes great pride in its health and field workers in all sectors who have dealt with the pandemic with strength, steadfastness and sincerity, supported by their brothers in the security sectors and all other sectors, so they all deserve all of our thanks and appreciation.

These efforts have contributed to producing results that give hope and optimism while treating the infected citizens and residents, proving them with quarantine facilities and taking all precautionary measures, some of which may be painful but necessary.
