Kuwait confirms 838 new coronavirus cases, 8 deaths

KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait on Sunday, the first day of Eid, registered 838 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, taking the overall count to 21,302, according to a statement from the country’s Ministry of Health, carried by Kuwait news Agency.

The ministry also announced eight more deaths from the virus, raising the total number of fatalities in the country to 156.

A total of 370 more patients have recovered from the disease, bringing to 6,117 the total of recoveries in the country, according to the ministry.

All the new cases were in touch with previously infected people or are being investigated for sources of infection, the Health Ministry's spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said in the statement.

The spokesman also said there are 15,029 patients who are still receiving the necessary medical care, including 177 in intensive care units.

Regarding the COVID-19 tests, he said 2,935 have been conducted in the past 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 271,089.
